Surprise!
Saturday was such an amazing day… Saturday started off as a bright sunny day. What better way to start off the weekend with a carwash. So I dug up the Elephant Car Wash gift card that I received last summer. I’m glad a balance remained and I didn’t have to pay out of pocket for it. The past fall and winter seasons have been really wet and snowy, so it wasn’t really practical to wash my tC, so I just let the mud and grime cake on, turning transforming the color from Nautical Blue, to Crumby Khaki. Hahahaha. Now, it feels like it did when I bought it a few years ago. With our forecast, I’ll be able to enjoy it for awhile :)
Later in the day, Lindsey came over and we hung out for a little bit. For the WHOLE week, we talked about how we haven’t spent much alone time with just me and her. So, I had this elaborate plan to wash my car (CHECK) so she can feel like a star while we spend our ALONE time together… As she came in, she had a box with three wrapped presents in it. I SPECIFICALLY told her not to get me anything, for she does SO much for me already… but she insisted. When I opened it up, it was the CAMERA I’ve been eye’ing since last summer!!! It was the Canon SD630(I know I know, I’m normally a Nikon Pro Gear shooter, but this is an awesome everyday, compact camera – and now it fits on my regular belt, not my “working” Lowepro one, LOL). Amazingly FAST camera. There are a lot of great review about it online at Cnet and Amazon , but I’ll have MY official review after a few weeks of shooting with it. It also came with a case for my belt loop and 1gb SD card. Man, she knows how to hook it up.
So, now armed with my new camera and factory-charged battery, we were on our way to the new the Olympic Sculpture Park by the Seattle Art Museum. It JUST opened up on January 20th and I was excited to take some shots there. As we pulled up to the entrance, there was a MASSIVE amount of people there! I mean TONS!! We drove around to look for a parking spot for about, umm, a MINUTE and decided that it wasn’t meant to be.
The whole time, Lindsey was “hungry” and wanted to just go straight to my favorite restaurant, Mizu Japanese Steakhouse. I love that place. So as we pulled up to it, she suddenly realized she needed some necessities from the neighboring Target store. So we parked in between and walked to Target from there. While in the store, she was walking awkwardly slow. She kept “checking her phone” (which I later found out she was text’ing people during our “alone” time). It was almost as though she was stalling… hmmmm…
Then our hunger got the best of us and we FINALLY walked over to Mizu’s. It was an amazing surprise to find her cousins and my friends around the Hibachi Grill! She had planned a surprise dinner all along! SNEAKY!!! Van was our chef and he sliced and diced up an amazing medium-cooked steak for us. We then went to my aunt’s house to open MORE presents – oh man, this night was great! I got a HUGE picture frame from Janet, Jaime and Baby Jasmine. Thanks guys!!! I love it… And I also received a new bedsheet set and duvet (sp?) cover from Anthony, Pam and my goddaughter Aliyah. WOW, how’d they know what I wanted :) Thank you too guys!!!
I love all of you and thank you for making my pre-birthday weekend a blast.
Oh did I forget to ad, that this weekend WAS my pre-birthday weekend? Wow, loss of memory IS a sign of old-age :)
Have a great week!
