Cellar Door

I had the opportunity to shoot an awesome local band yesterday named "Cellar Door". I met them at one of their shows at Tommy's Nightclub in the University of Washington district early in April. They liked my images and a week later, their manager call me for "formal" photoshoot. Let me tell you, It was far from formal...

So, we scheduled to meet at Kai's Bistro and Lounge (also in the U-district) during closed hours. Kenji, the lead singer is the head bartender there, so we had an almost unrestricted amount of time to get the images we wanted. Kai's was awesome. We were all over the place and I was able to get all the angles I wanted -- I was standing on bar stools and lying on the ground -- They even had a hideaway storage loft (more like a crawlspace) upstairs that we used. I was able to meander through to get a birds-eye view of the band. It was great!

These guys are so laid back and inclusive. It's cool when you go to shoot and your subject (in this case, subjectS) provides feedback and engages in composing the types of poses, backgrounds, etc. It makes my job ALOT easier -- especially considering my partner wasn't there to do all the posing. Really, all I had to do was point and shoot!

I'll post some images when I get to my digital "sanctuary" -- I'm almost done with them. Keep checking back here for updates. Until them, CLICK HERE to check out Cellar Door's music and official website (and A. Sencil images too).
